First of a Kind Plant
We are collaborating closely with iron ore producers, steelmakers and commercial partners to advance studies for a 400,000 tonnes per annum first-of-a-kind (FOAK) commercial plant ahead of a final investment decision in 2027.
We are assessing the potential to construct our FOAK Cold Agglomerated Pellet (CAP) plant at HES Bulk Terminal Rotterdam, close to key European steelmaking customers.
Other locations under consideration for additional plants are in Western Australia, to capture the scale and opportunity of the Pilbara region, and in Teesside UK, close to our Technology Centre.
Our pioneering facility is expected to employ 35 people and will combine BSL’s proprietary processing and binder technology with proven, industry-standard equipment to produce low-emission Cold Agglomerated Pellets at temperatures below 150°C. Our commercially competitive CAPs are designed for seamless integration into both blast furnace and direct reduction steelmaking processes—supporting the transition to more sustainable steel production, while ensuring supply chain security.
